9.8x29.9 in ~ Painting, Watercolor
As part of a group exhibition in Cessenon sur Orb, near to home here in the Languedoc, we were challenged to paint a work with the brief
"50 Nuances de Blue".
When I teach debutantes to watercolour this is an exercise I use as values are so important in painting no matter the media. Students get used to the amount of water needed and to use the white of the paper to lighten their paint, NOT white paint.
I went to Roquebrun and took a photograph on a cold morning that had beautiful light, and the shadows showed the bend in the river Orb.
Painted using just blue watercolour
on 639gsm Saunders Waterford rag paper
There were about 50 paintings in the category and I was so pleased to be selected as the winner.
